Good Things about this Art Fair:
There were a lot of people coming to the fair for the fourth of July celebration.
What could this Art Fair have done better?:
Organizer included a lot of vendors that were not even related to "arts" inside the show. There were a lot of artists that thought that this was an art festival, but there were more crafts than arts.
This is similar to the fairground show. This is not absolutely a common art festival.
Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
1. There were very few shows on the 4th of July weekend. We were assigned near the musical stage and most of the patrons walked to find their foods and listened to the live music.
2. Our neighbors sold T-shirts for $15 and the next row's vendors sold homemade honey and pickles. There was a booth with fine jewelry in between. I did not know why the organizer assigned the booth that way.
3. The bestseller vendor that we saw so far turned out to be the "bird house" with the pole stuck on the ground. We saw a lot of people carrying the items.
4. The crowds were not the arts buyers. More than half came to find something to eat and listen to the music for the 4th of July weekend.
5. We do not know how this festival was ranked as # 78 in the nation by Sunshine Magazine.
6. There were a lot of first time vendors and their sales were not that great. Many of them indicated that they won't come back.
7. Items that were priced less than $40 would be selling well.
8. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is around 45 minutes from the site. We thought that we would have the huge crowds from Pittsburgh coming to the event but we had not seen it. Information from Festivalnet.com indicated the crowds of 125K for four days event. Even though that might be true, there were no strength in numbers because they are not the arts buying crowds.
9. The location was very remote and we did not have the Internet data signal to conduct the sales transactions. We had to handwrite the receipt on each item sold. Based on what we know, AT&T was the only carrier that worked. They displayed one bar out of five.
Additional Commentary on this Show:
I felt that this "art" festival is more like the state fairground. There were vendors coming as far as Georgia, Connecticut or Alabama. We believed that the advertisement of the event as ranking as # 78 in the nation from the Sunshine magazine was a little bit exaggerated. When the vendors booth started selling T-Shirts, honey, pickles surrounding the places, this is not really an art festival.

What prompted you to submit a review today?
We believe that the art festival promotion on this event did not accurately represented the "art festival" concept. We would like to let other artists know before applying.
