Hershey West End Artfest & Flower Show Reviews.

Unfortunately, the weather took a turn for the worse the night before. Weather forecast called for storms and up to 40 mph gusts. The morning of the show the forecast became reality, with rain and heavy winds. Much too dangerous to set up a display tent - not an inconvenience, but dangerous.

The show was subsequently cancelled by the show administrators.

I did not set up my display and contacted the shows administrator that afternoon by e-mail. I was informed that since I did not show up and set up (in dangerous - up to 40 mph wind gusts) there would be no refund or offer of free entry fee the following year.

I lost the entrance fee and wrote it off, it was better to do that than to ruin my tent and $5K worth of my wood art.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SHOW TO ANYONE!

Good Things about this Art Fair:
Hershey is a nice town

What could this Art Fair have done better?:
Juried show only applies to your first admittance. After that it is a dysfunctional abusive experience.

Where you better say nothing, ask for zero help cause if you do , you will be blacklisted. There is ONE female that runs it, she is the jury , and if you ask for assistance , like I had to do, or offer constructive criticism, like I did, you will be rudely denied.

Any every reason for denial has nothing to do with your work, in fact, your work is not even mentioned! Stay away, attendance never makes the % / entrance fee.

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
my advice is find something else. Just not worth the aggravation. This show used to held on the main street of Hershey, then it was moved to the grassy park area off the main street, thats when it lost its special feel.

This year its being moved yet again to the periphery of town in a difficult to park area. Its my hope someone else takes over this event and breaths new life into it.

Many artists who do this show say the same thing................And as mentioned, WAY too stressful to deal with her. Reminds me of an abusive realationship.
