Good Things about this Art Fair:
Great location. Quality artists.

What could this Art Fair have done better?:
Although this was the first-time for the show, I felt more could of been done to bring in the foot traffic.

The site is not very visible from the main road that is very busy. Yet, the show failed to capitalize on it.

The signage coming to the show from my home did not go up until Sunday morning, the third day of the show. Not sure why it didn't go up sooner.

Attendance was the missing ingredient here.

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
This show needs to build its audience. Don't travel for it, at least not yet. I live about 10 minutes away from the show location. It is a great area, populated with plenty of families nearby and a busy downtown area a few miles up the road.

It will really depend on the marketing strategy for future success.

Additional Commentary on this Show:
I had 12 transactions at this show in total. Typically, I average 20-30 per day at smaller shows like this. I ended up -$68 after expenses.

I live nearby, so my expenses were minimal and I wanted to lend my support to a local show that was starting out. It was disappointing, but the venue has potential.

About five years ago, the city sponsored a one-day festival as this location. I participated in that event two years in a row and the turnout was excellent. Let's hope this show can get established and do the same.
