Good Things about this Art Fair:
I love the crowd at this show, so many lovers of handcrafted work. Despite the drop in sales the last 2 years (been doing this show for 8), it still far surpasses the booth fee for me.
Volunteers are all very friendly.
Bad Things about this Art Fair:
The past 2 years they expanded and accepted a lot more vendors and jewelry now outnumbers ANY other genre by almost triple. That has hurt my sales more than anything, including weather!
2011 rained ridiculously for a while and it was cold and my sales barely took a hit. The last 2 years I've made almost half what I used to make.
A lot more cheap jewelry... which is just hard to compete with if you do labor-intensive work (metalsmithing).
Also spoke to a few other vendors I've known for years and they've noticed the same thing.
Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
If you have higher-end prices, go in knowing that you will be competing with lower cost jewelers.
I still do pretty well as I am in the middle as far as pricing goes - but I still get a lot of people who are interested until they see the price..
