Raoul Duke

I did this show this year and had a great time. The amount of money spent was fair to good and the artists/ people were great.

Like the review before mine said, they want what they pay for and seemingly that was anything that had a picture of or said "Buffalo" on it. I'll have to keep this in mind for next year.

This was my first year there and next year, I hope to do better.

Does anyone have a more up to date review of this show?
I've been invited and would like to know if it will be worth the trip from RI.
This last review is 4 years old, and I'd like to now what they meant by high priced work?

Come on kids, someone out there must have something good or bad to say? So by all means, say it!

Thanks

Wendy Merkle

Good Things about this Art Fair:
This Festival is the Largest Art Show in Western New York (Buffalo). The Allentown Village Society is known for having high expectations and as such a competing festival with all the vendors who could not get in has popped up on the streets in and around Allentown.

The show is very kind to the artists and is sensitive to what they need. They have tremendous awards and an award ceremony on Saturday evening which is lovely. They switch the judges every year which is prudent and I wish all other festivals would follow suit.

Bad Things about this Art Fair:
This is a city show so certain difficulties come with that. Like vehicles maneuverability. We have a transit connect and park in a designated lot very close to our spot. I have no idea how it is for other artists.

This is not a negative just a heads up. Buffalo is very blue collar and they want value for their money, so you need to give it to them. A high price point will not do well here.

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
If you have a trailer, I would consult with the organizers in advance on how to handle it. There are a lot of them so I know they do it in certain lots.

Additional Commentary on this Show:
The organizers really do a nice job and this is a show I most look forward to every year... as it is the hometown show for us.
