Good Things about this Art Fair:
Nice location, my hotel was right behind my booth

What could this Art Fair have done better?:
Layout was strange, we were in quads down the center of the street facing out. Would be better if we were in pairs along curb facing into street. That way visitors could walk down Center of road and see everything.

Plus, an emergency vehicle would be able to get in, I don't think one would fit with the quad set up (and thats illegal in most places for street shows).

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
Give it a go if you can get in.

Good Things about this Art Fair:
A well organized show by an accommodating, professional staff. Setting up and breaking down is well organized.

An excellent location, set upon the main streets of a desirable, upscale town center. A highly juried fine art show, comprising quality career fine artists.

The show attracts mostly well educated, middle to high income consumers who are interested in purchasing art. Regardless of weather conditions, the crowd is consistently good to excellent.

Attendees come to the show rain or shine. My sales are excellent every year. Price points should have run the spectrum. Many clients return each year to purchase new art from me, in addition to new consumers.

What could this Art Fair have done better?:
Show should commence at 10:00 AM instead of 11:00 Am each day.

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
This show will give you a reliable return on your investment. Price points should have run the spectrum, from $100.00 to $5,000.

Good Things about this Art Fair:
Very well organized show: set-up and break-down were a breeze and the promoter had a block of rooms in the hotel that was literally attached to the show--so convenient.

Crowds: not heavy traffic, but most people were either buyers, academically curious (not red-necks or scammers), or wanted information about commissions.

One large piece that I sold was to a couple from Bethesda and it seemed as though that some serious buyers didn't want to wait for Reston, Bethesda, or Alexandria to buy something substantial.

Bad Things about this Art Fair:
There was a front moving in with some crazy gusts of wind and some people chose to either break-down completely or deconstruct their tent--the promoters were there with volunteers to make that process just a little less painful.

Additional Commentary on this Show:
If you know that you're going to be exhibiting in any D.C. show (Fairfax, Reston, Alexandria, Bethesda) then you should absolutely do this show. You could plant a seed that could bring some serious fruit later in the year.
