Raoul Duke

I just finished this show at White Plains, thank God it's over. Art sales, as some one had mentioned were dismal, even jewelry sales were poor according to the woman I spoke to.

It wasn't an easy show to set up for being in a park in the center of a major traffic center, think Ben-Hur with chariots racing as you try to set up. The waist high split rail fence was a joy to repeatedly have to cross.

There were two port-a-potties for the entire show, needless to say, didn't make any money and I'm not going back. A long ride for no money.

Oh, and it rained Sunday, that was fun!

Good Things about this Art Fair:
Committee is helpful and do their best to honor booth requests and are available throughout the show.

The booth fees and contributions go to a scholarship fund for White Plains students

Bad Things about this Art Fair:
Booths are scattered among 2 sections of Tibbets Park in White Plains, near a Walmart and shopping area. Some spaces are much better than others.

The show is not a destination show; customers seem to wander in from the nearby shopping area or apartment buildings.

Don't know how much publicity is done for the show.

It is important to use your mailing list if you have customers in Westchester and Fairfield County, CT.

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
I would suggest doing this show only if you live in driving distance of White Plains; the show is not worth a hotel room and other traveling expenses.

The show is too expensive, a $250 show at best. Many artists who exhibit one year are not there the next.

Less expensive items do better than artists and photographers. Very hit or miss.
