Good Things about this Art Fair:
Indoors. Nice facility. Easy setup & tear down for an indoor show.
Bad Things about this Art Fair:
Very few customers. Never saw the promoter. Show location in an undesirable part of city.
Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
Future shows have been cancelled for the Spring, but there is still a Nov. show in same place by same promoter.
Food vendors dominate the show, art is secondary here.
Additional Commentary on this Show:
This show tanked because there are no customers. I was grateful to walk away with $900, but most artists around me didn't sell much at all.
The biggest issue I have is the promoter states $40,000 goes to advertising for the show. I find this be a misleading statement based on the meager foot traffic.
Second, for the life of me cannot understand the lack of professionalism many promoters have. This is my first time at this show, but the promoter never came around once to introduce himself, say hello or welcome me to the show. He also neglected to do the same to two other first time artist near me.
He also requested I setup a 10x15 booth, instead of a 10x10 booth. I agreed, but he never bothered to say thank you for the extra time and effort it takes to setup a larger booth.
These lack of personal skills and professionalism are exactly why all future shows are now cancelled.
