Good Things about this Art Fair:
1) The Domain is a beautiful outdoor mall.
2) Staff was pleasant.
3) Parking was reasonably convenient.
4) Art was high quality.
5) Set-up was Friday.
6) Restrooms were inside -- not port-a-johns.
7) Reimbursement for specialized booth space was refunded promptly. (Returning artists requested their same spaces so my special request wasn't able to be filled.)
Bad Things about this Art Fair:
1) During set-up several people came up to us to ask what we were doing as well as during the show people indicated that they were unaware of the show. While it appears that there was some advertising, I'm not sure what restrictions the mall put on the event because event signs didn't go up until Friday afternoon.
Also, on Thursday when we were scouting our spot, many of the people were unaware of the upcoming weekend event.
During the weekend, much of the crowd walked down the sidewalks behind the tents or in the middle of the streets. There was a good crowd, but not a great crowd with very few art buyers.
2) Streets were narrow so set-up was a bit challenging getting a vehicle through the streets if other artists were setting up or breaking down.
Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
If you live nearby, then it could be a good show for you. Unfortunately, if you live more than 8 hours away, it's very likely you won't make your budget.
Additional Commentary on this Show:
While financially this show wasn't as profitable as I would have preferred, we did meet and learn some great information from several wonderful artists.
