I don't believe this show is going to be held again. The director died a year ago and his assistant retired.

One of my worst shows in many years! They did a great job selecting fabulous artists, but then brought them a crowd that can only afford Chinatown. On Sat at 4, I was on $20, lol...unheard of! That was basically the story all the way around after talking to others. Some sold nothing, some did a few hundred that had cheaper items. On Sunday I put my jewelry onsale...Prices was $69-$89, I put it on sale for $59 , which btw, I never do, but figgered I would try to do some damage control. I did $1000 Sunday, whoopyyy...! It was a tough crowd, you could hardly have a conversation, they were so scared you will try to sell them something. These people didn’t have money and I heard over and over. Really beautiful, but I can’t afford it. The show is also kind of hidden away, I had someone stop me a block away from the show to ask where the show was. No signs or advertising anywhere around! The church had bathrooms that artists could use and also had snacks, fruit and a breakfast on Sunday, which was really nice of them, just FYI. I didn’t see many eating places around...terrible area.
Also, almost everyone around me was new, never done it before, so that should have been a sign. Advice to others, until they cater to actual Buyers, run!

Good Things about this Art Fair:
This fair was quite easy as far as set up. Both the artists and the attendees were very friendly. There are local residents who are looking for fine art for their homes. Many of these people are within walking distance of the fair and appreciate new art from new artists!
Bad Things about this Art Fair:
I was never greeted by any of the folks running the show.
I never saw any booth sitters and, was given two tickets to request them, but had no idea where to go or who to give them to! Ran to the bathroom and back. Never left my booth other than that, which was kind of sad that I didn't get to see any of my peers work.
A detailed map of the show was never given, just of my specific area for set up.
When I checked in, I was given blank stares... no "Hello" or "How are you?" - nothing! Then I gave them my name and the only thing they said to me was, "On Sunday, the show doesn't start until noon because of the churches in the area. They are really adamant about it!" That was it. When I got to the fair on Sunday morning at 11:30, most tents were fully open for business and selling! Meanwhile, I was sitting in my hotel, waiting.
There were many discrepancies about start times for BOTH days both verbally, in print and on the radio (got to hear an ad as I was getting out of the car which said the Sunday hours were noon to 5:30 when everyone believed it was ?-5:00)
Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
I believe this show can be hit or miss for a lot of artists. After speaking to folks who live in the area and go to the show year after year, they said there is rarely anything new or different... a lot of the same, year after year. SO, if you do do something unique and different, you might find yourself a new fan club!
Additional Commentary on this Show:
I like this show, I just feel it was a bit discombobulated and lacked important information that would be useful to artists. Perhaps, it was a lack of communication and some people dropped balls along the way. With a few minor tweaks, this show could be really, really great all around!
