Good Things about this Art Fair:
Sue Brown Gordon and David Gordon are longtime exhibitors and artists who also participate in this show. This is their local show, they really care to make this work and they are doing all the right things. Show is well juried with a good mix of media. Many exhibitors are in the top of their field, some new exhibitors also showed here.
Many of the exhibitors may show at OAF or OCF of the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Ct. Sue is the director of those shows as well, and she is well versed in how to run a show. Her staff is helpful.
Show is on the grounds of the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum and the Center for Contemporary Printmaking. Artists set up on grass along a paved walkway. It is spread out but definitely not so long that "be backs" would hesitate to come back. The focus of the show is art, not "festival" so there is quiet, appropriate music and a few food trucks with surprisingly decent food.
I would definitely recommend this show to artists in the northeast, or midwestern/southeastern artists if you are doing a few shows in the area.
Bad Things about this Art Fair:
Nothing bad to report.
Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
Since it's new, show will need to grow, meaning, it needs larger crowds, so use your mailing list for best results. Probably best bet is for Northeast based artists.
Norwalk is an expensive area, see if you can stay with friends or family, or shop around for hotel deals. You may be able to camp on the grounds, not sure about that.
Additional Commentary on this Show:
This is a very different show from SoNo Arts Celebration, South Norwalk, CT. SoNo is much more of a "Festival" than an art show. SoNo sales went way down for me, so no longer a good option. Norwalk Art Festival is what an art show should be. Now it just needs to grow...
