Good Things about this Art Fair:
Lots of help from volunteers carrying booth to your location. They DO hustle! Pretty location.

Shuttle buses ran regularly, but rutted field where we had to park our vans made it impossible to handcart my jewelry storage to the bus.

Everyone was very nice and upbeat.

Bad Things about this Art Fair:
Tastes of patrons are pretty mainstream and only my very lowest priced pieces and traditional designs sold.

I am a jeweler, and I was surrounded by EIGHT other jewelers (Red section).

I was new to the show, and other than the volunteers, no one came by to introduce themselves as the organizers.

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
From my experience, if your work is too abstract, edgy or contemporary, pass on this show.

Good Things about this Art Fair:
This fair is held in a beautiful location, on the grounds of a magnificently landscaped grounds of the city's art museum. This sets the bar high for CLASS! It also provides performing arts free all day, and attendees can purchase better than average food from local restaurants, not typical fair food. Also there is plenty of beer and wine, that keeps shoppers ( and their spouses) happy and their wallets open.

You can drive quite close to your booth, and there will be MANY strong young men with golf carts who will gladly unload your vehicle and deliver to your booth area. Set up is anytime the day before the show. there might be a slight wait to enter the area when checking in. It is on Sunshine Artist top 100 art shows.

Bad Things about this Art Fair:
EVERYONE shuttles to and from their cars, which can be just outside the grounds, or a mile down the road by school buses. That's a nice service, but at the end of the day everyone is trying to get back into the area, where the paths are too narrow for traffic to flow smoothly. This is not the fault of the host. Just a heads up that I waited an hour after having packed up for my assistant to be able to return to our area with our vehicle. Would love for it to be a 2 day event....

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
I was on the wait list and got an email a few weeks before that offered me a spot. I talked to another artist this weekend who said she was offered a spot the morning of!!! So, if you are local and serious about doing this show, get your vehicle packed, and check your email EARLY that morning.

Additional Commentary on this Show:
I am new to the summer shows, so this was my first year as a vendor at this show, long time shopper, though. I did amazingly, extremely well at this show, both financially and shopper approval. I broke my previous one day sales record by 50%!

Granted, I was the new kid on the block, which always creates a buzz. But my friends heard another shopper say "let's go back to the lady who...." and described me! A fellow artist also had a record breaking day and informed me that if I sold well in the RED area, that I had truly had a great day. Evidently, I was in a spot that is far from either entrance and doesn't get as much traffic. I couldn't have been happier, nor busier!

This show is run by a man's volunteer organization and therefor they run it very straightforward. There is no additional add-on expenses or mandatory "donations" like the show that the female version of this organization hosts.
