If you are an artist please STAY AWAY!! I've done this show twice. 2020 and 2023. That area is for runners and walkers and window shoppers. That's all people did was window shop and eat. Just about no one was in anyone elses booth. Most people came out for the music and the food. I will never do this show again.

What could this Art Fair have done better?:
Warning -- this is not an art show, it is a music festival with buy/sell, embellished products, etc.
People are only here for the food and music -- the artists are only provided for entertainment. Very disinterested public. Do not do this show if you are a legit artist; you will barely make booth fee.

Additional Commentary on this Show:
Despite being mislead by the promoters, this is a very well organized event and it appeared to run very smoothly.

Lots of angry broke artists at the show. Don't want others to make the mistake I made by applying

Art buyers are non existent at this show. Attendance was poor. People more interested in taking a stroll around then buying art. Several buy sell people in the show posing as artists. Whoever ran the show appeared drunk while handing out awards. Some artists were even harassed about reviews made about the show on a private page made for artists. If the show wants more art and less crafts they should bump up the prize money to add a few more awards. Unless you make crafts don't apply to this show. Few artists will continue to do this show. It has never been a fine art show.

Good Things about this Art Fair:
Nice venue, easy parking, Friday set up.
Bad Things about this Art Fair:
Very slow show. Not to be too judgmental but the people that did come were very blue collar at best. Maybe a better way to put it is that very few SEEMED to have the resources to buy a $500 piece of art.
Face painting and the balloon man looked like they did great!
I didn't talk to a single artist that felt they did well. (I talked to about 10-15 artists at the show)
Show organizer was great until the load out.. he then got very condescending and not willing to hear reason. No biggie.. he was just overwhelmed and took it out on a few artists...
After I talked to him about getting my van in to load he turned around and said.. "there is always one"... there is never an appropriate time to disrespect a customer.. I was his customer.. I won't be again for this reason and mostly because he was unable to bring qualified buyers to the show... (I think bringing qualified buyers to a show is the #1 thing a promoter is supposed to do).
Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show: add face painting to your booth.. you'll do great!

Sounds like you are on the right track, Jim, with this change of dates. Even in the North we don't like to attend art fairs in 40 degree weather. I wish this event solid sales for the artists with this date change.

Pursuant to the review above, it would have been only correct and fair for the artist to have stated that the weather conditions for the weekend included 40 mile hour winds and 40 degree temperatures. The residents of Central Florida do not own winter clothes and held their hands deep within their pockets to stay warm.
The Uptown Art Expo for 2014 has a new event weekend moving from the third weekend of February to March 29-30th, 2014.

Good Things about this Art Fair:Well run, easy load in and out. $8000 in cash awards.
Bad Things about this Art Fair: Entertainment was featured; belly dancers, aerial acts and rock bands were advertised heavily. Art was a sideline, and the patrons were only interested in what was going on the stage. When jewelers make zero sales, you KNOW it's a bad show for artists!
Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show: Unless you are sure of winning an award, stay away!
