Good Things about this Art Fair: Wonderful people. Boulder is beautiful and the Mall is a great place to have a show.
Bad Things about this Art Fair:The organizer said there'd be 80,000 people but I'm guessing it couldn't have been more that 30,000. I had one of the best spots but traffic was usually spotty and very few people were carrying bags, i.e. not buyers. I assumed this was going to be an art fair with music. Instead it was a music fair with art. Art was secondary and that was pretty clear. Most of the time, there were street entertainers and they were actually very good so they drew large crowds which blocked the way to the booths in my area and people took an alternate route bypassing all of us. Very frustrating. This was my first long distance trip to an art fair so I didn't know what to expect. Two really talented 2D artists told me they average $7000 to $10,000 at every fair but they did $3000 here. They weren't happy about the show but they both said they might do it again because it was so much fun. I have friends in Boulder so I'll do it again.
Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show: It's a great environment and fun place to be and even with all that I still sold okay. It was fun, had great restaurants and interesting people, and I actually sold okay. But be prepared for slow traffic periods and poor sales even with large crowds.
