Good Things about this Art Fair: Ann Sutherland , Coordinator is great to work with and responsive to questions. Location downtown Bellevue , WA in connection with Bellevue Art Museum's ArtsFair and Bellevue's 6th Street Fair. Parking and shuttle bus service for artist is great the show works with local school. Security and traffic control is excellent.Music was excellent and all acoustical or a DJ Artists hospitality and information booth was excellent free water and booth sitters are always available. Mix of artists was good and "NO" Mass produced art. That is what the 6th street location is for. Free Admission and show local advertising makes for intelligent art buyers. Weather, yes it has been a sunny, but not to hot event. Other artists are friendly and helpful. People have money and spend it.
Bad Things about this Art Fair: Load in times tend to fall behind and don't start until 6 PM can result in a very late night. Load out was much better with help from other artist. This year the usual great after work crowd on Friday ran home to see the Olympics opening ceremony. Saturday and Sunday were average. Show food poor and $$, but you are surrounded by excellent restaurants and cafes. Hotels are pricey shop and even look in surrounding cities as the show is located just a few blocks from I-405 also check out airbnb.com The slope of the parking lot can wear on your legs
Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
I have been doing Art shows for 8 years and have learned for my work the after show sales far exceed the show. Bellevue Festival of the Arts is an excellent event for me to have potential customers see my unique up-cycled work. This show is part of a month long Puget Sound tour staring with Gray's Harbor, then Bellevue, Anacortes and then Coupeville. Apply early !
Additional Commentary on this Show: Learning from other artists about shows is a priceless resource.
