Does anyone know about the show in Coronado (San Diego)?
Or about any other good shows in the SoCal area?
Thanks...

Boy do I agree with this stinker of a show. I was at that show this year and although the host was very supportive and considerate, I was fortunate to sell one piece. Too much self promotion (announced loudly all day long over loudspeakers),and the jurying was so off-base it defies description. The layout and location are not conducive to the general public. I give it a 2 at best. Craft stuff seemed to be selling, but it was not billed as a crafts fair. I have subsequently heard other venues in San Diego proper do better, such as Coronado.

Good Things about this Art Fair: Met some nice people and artists. Weather was good. I had a banner on my booth and got some website traffic hits for the 2 days I was there. One sale happened a week later for $200. Not worth all the hassle, traveling, weeks of planning and aggravation of setting up and taking down.

Bad Things about this Art Fair: The crowd was not willing to spend money on art. The booth fee was $575, plus I needed to buy a canopy and extras. Total cost was $1,000. Sales were 0. Not going back. I was told one high end glassware guy was making good sales. The elite rich of La Jolla wanted that kind of stuff.

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show: It is advertised as a premiere west coast art show with high end art. There was some junk, like garden decorations on steelpoles for under $50. How can an artist look good next to that?

Additional Commentary on this Show (or about this form): Fair attendees got to listen to live music and eat good food, there was also an outdoor bar. I saw that bar had more people at it all day than I saw going through the aisles. Money was spent on booze and food it seemed, not art.
