Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
I exhibited in 2010, had a great show and was looking forward to 2011. Unfortunately when I got there, I was kitty corner from the "Destiny Rescue" booth that loudly advertised that their jewelry was made by "girls rescued from sex slavery". It was cheap resale jewelry imported from Asia and they couldn't even tell you what the materials were. They are local, so people were lining up to buy their jewelry because it was "for a good cause" Whether it is a good cause is another story which I will not get into here. The point is, an art show should have art handmade by the exhibiting artist, not foreign imports. No matter how good the cause, that jewelry does not belong at an art show. I sold one item and didn't even make my booth fee. Most people wouldn't even enter my booth because apparently I can't compete with "sex slaves". I will not do this show again until I am assured they will not have resale.
