They have unmarked parking traps. Parked on nearby street that was unmarked as Cop gave me $60 ticket. Went to pay it later and the city was very arrogant and snobbish about it. Will never go to an event again in Royal Oak.

Good Things about this Art Fair: Royal Oak Mi is a hot spot for the hip rivaled only by Ferndale Mi which only a mile south. Royal Oak would certainly fall somewhere between middle to upper class families. That being said, the potential to sell is through the roof. Artists support is amazing in Both Royal Oak and Ferndale . Both cities support each other during these events. I believe 2012 brought in 425,000 fans, and even the storms of 2011 brought in 340,000 fans. This is Royal Oaks largest fair all year. And only art fair.
Bad Things about this Art Fair: Like any show, weather can be a pain. Michigan especially. Heat, rain and winds. Bring plenty of weights for your tents. I was lucky enough to be featured in a restaurant in 2012 so I didn't have to worry about this.
Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:As far as weather goes, prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Also, bring fans for heat. This event is huge, I mean grand! People are loyal and pack Royal Oak for the entire three days. You will certainly gain exposure by attending. I believe the booth fee is around $300 but again, this is Detroit largest art gathering all year.
Additional Commentary on this Show: If you are a serious artist, you have to attend an event like this. It's par for the course. Get you app in early. Everyone want in.

Good Things about this Art Fair: The Music is loud, with 10 stages, plenty of booze, a real party atmosphere.
Bad Things about this Art Fair: Only a fraction of attendees get around to the art section. Most are here for the "Par-tay", one patron threw up behind my booth on the day it was 95 degrees. Tons of drunks entering my booth, not to talk about my art, but to tell me about some crap they made in 7th grade. The layout is disjointed, a mess really. 90% of the people attending, are there to get hammered, Art buyers are not attending because of the wild west, circus like atmosphere. With each year, this being year 3 at this location, Buyers are finding out...
1. there is no parking, even the Artists have to walk between 1/4 to 1/2 mile from car to booth.
2. It's gonna be a "madhouse", many buyers are not going to bother going to a free for all, just to look at art.
Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show: If you live within 15 miles of the show, and they drop there booth rates to a flat 300$, and you have a "craft line" you want to peddle, and you have a good rapport with those who are on drugs and inebriated, and you have the patience of a saint when it comes time to load and unload,... you get the idea.

Good Things about this Art Fair: Well advertised along with large music venue. Felt strange at first to be selling up against carnival type booths that were somewhat seperated from art but in same show. When the weather was ok the art buyers showed up. Felt like sales could be great if weather was better. I will try again in 2012.
Bad Things about this Art Fair: main focus is on music and part of show has buy sell items with carnival mind set. Art is well promoted but shares stage with other venues which is a love hate thing.
