Good Things about this Art Fair:
This art show has been around for 51 years. It is set in the beautiful Toledo Botanical Gardens. They are VERY artist friendly with air conditioned artist lounge and snacks, meal before the preview show, ample space behind the booth, very easy load-in (Thurs or Fri) with drive up to your booth. Very organized load out.
Ample artist parking with shuttles for those who don't feel like walking the healthy hike (but not really that bad). Good art with the exception of a few questionable "artist".
Patron's party on Friday night that does bring out those who support the Botanical Gardens and appreciate the arts.
Bad Things about this Art Fair:
With all they do right by the artists they failed in their booth lay out arrangement. There are about 35 booths out of the 247 that are dead ends or on deserted islands that don't get a 1/3 of the traffic the other areas get. IF patrons were making their way in that direction, they were confused as to where to go.
This year was brutally hot, so if you had a booth in the sun all day, you were really overlooked.
Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
Consider your booth location carefully as well as your medium. I was in the sun all day near the "island" and sell wearable fiber. That combination resulted in low sales.
The jeweler next to me didn't do real well either. The photographer across from me was ready to leave by noon Sunday. To that end, I think it was more location/booth layout than medium.
