Good Things about this Art Fair: The attendance has been good all 3 years I have exhibited.

Bad Things about this Art Fair: There is no real jurying. The quality of booths is completely inconsistent. There are some great artists in the midst of tinsel wreaths and hairbows. Because of this the better artists are fewer each year.

Also, the woman who runs the show has no interest in helping you with anything. She is extremely difficult and often rude.

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show: There are no artists amenities or services whatsoever. I would not recommend this show to anyone, and will not be returning to this show.

Good Things about this Art Fair: Set-up allowed the day before. Seemed to be good advertising since there was good attendance. The promoters listened to the artists last year, this year there were wider and more frequent aisles. Indoor and outdoor sites available. The indoor site is locked at night. Attempt was made not to allow cars back on site until teardown complete and so to limit the chaos. The papers for Kentucky sales tax submission were handed out at the show, so we didn't have to track that down on our own. Jurying not required after the first year. Other artists were incredibly supportive.

Bad Things about this Art Fair:
No cars allowed on the site starting the day of the show until the show was over. The parking lot is nearby, but the show is up quite a steep hill. There was a golf cart to help carry things up the hill. There was little contact with the organizers, no one to check us in. We were given our booth numbers and a map before we got there. Other than someone asking if we needed a booth-sitter the first day, there were no artist amenities, not even water or coffee. There was no security around during the show. There was some serious shop-lifting going on, but no-one around to report to. Seemed to be a lot of jewelry, but I didn't actually count and the brochure didn't have the artist's medium printed on it. Last year we were inside, but it was pretty dark, some lights out, and even with our own lights it was hard to see our jewelry. We thought that it was hard for the customers to see that there was an inside section, so this year we opted to try an outdoor site, and had better sales.

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
Try to set-up the night before since you have to dolly in on the day of the show and it is seriously uphill. If the shoplifting thing becomes a trend, either lock your things up, or try to have some extra eyes. It seemed that the thieves were working with two or more so that one or more person could distract us while another one picked up the merchandise. It was a pretty professional job. If it weren't for the neighbors across the way who were alerted by another customer in their own booth and then watched what happened in our booth and confronted the thief after she left our booth, we would have lost a major piece of jewelry.

Additional Commentary on this Show (or about this form): We will probably do the show again unless we aren't asked back or unless we can find another show to take its place with the same potential for income, but the lack of contact with the show promoters, and the shoplifting aspect made us have a less favorable feeling after the show.
