Good Things about this Art Fair: Always considered one of the top 3 shows in the nation and there is a reason why. Great crowds, great sales, well organized and quality treatment of artists. This year, Friday brought a terrible storm and the show canceled the show for the night before it arrived. this had to be a very hard decision given the prep. But as the storm hit and the rain continued it was clearly the right decision. Several people lost their tents and many others had damage. The only controversy is not being allowed to return to the tents after the main thrust of the storm due to safety concerns. Another great show for most artists.

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show: Stay in the Sheraton on the grounds of the show. Good price and easy access to room when needed after or during a show with long hours.

Good Things about this Art Fair:
Gourmet food vendors, responsive show staff, especially Cindy Lerick, who had the bands turn down the volume so artists could speak to customers without screaming, really positive buying energy, great show hotel (Sheraton) close by, lots of great art, well juried.

Bad Things about this Art Fair:
Maybe more cirulating volunteers with water during setup and breakdown. We had frequent stops during show hours; maybe extend them a bit to include before and after?

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
Do it. This was our best show in 2009 and second best in 2010. Stay at the show hotel; they really do treat the artists well.

Show takes place on the streets of downtown Clayton, a suburb of St Louis. Set up is Friday starting at 11AM. Show is set up on two parallel streets and one cross street. Artists are set up down the middle, back to back. We have about 3 feet on the sides and in the rear, a very comfortable set up. No bad spots, as the customers walk the whole show. Total number of artists is about 170. Competition for this show is fierce, and the quality of the art is truly amazing. At the awards breakfast Sunday, we heard they received over 1500 apps for the 150 available spots.

This is one of those shows you feel you've won the lottery when you get accepted. Organization is top notch, the public really appreciates the artists being there, and there's usually a lot of good buying energy from the crowd.

Overall, though sales may have been down some this year, a great show to do! Now, what are the chances I can make it 3 years in a row??? Hey, I can dream, can't I?
