At the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, it is probable that from now on no awnings will be allowed on the front of booths and also a strict 6 foot limit for sticking out the back of the booth with a shade awning or storage. The fire marshall herself came through the show and enforced the rule. This strict enforcement will probably continue in future Ann Arbor art fairs. This is an issue which deserves discussion between artists and show directors for the sake of the future.

Good Things about this Art Fair:
This is an extremely well run show with an educated, affluent audience that actually comes to buy art rather than look at it.
Bad Things about this Art Fair:
It is 4 days long which makes the cost of doing the show fairly high. The hours of the show are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the first 3 days which are also pretty tiring.
Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
This year the heat was debilitating both for the artists and the customers. Most years I've done the show there is either extreme heat or at least one bad wind situation.
This show does provide festival tents for some artists and it is worth the extra $100 booth fee to be under them. It gives customers a shady place to look at the art and the artists a shady place to sit behind their booth.
