Good Things about this Art Fair:
Good crowd attendance

What could this Art Fair have done better?:
Eliminate side street booth sites. Put food vendors there.

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
There is no way to know your booth location until you show up. way past any chance to get a refund if you want one, when you find that you are not on Talbot.

Of course, by this time you have invested in travel$ and maybe non refundable hotel. If you end up on a side street your crowd numbers are going to be miniscule compared to Talbot.

Additional Commentary on this Show:
One of my big complaints, once we found ourselves in the soup, was that the powers would not let us move to an empty booth space. Absolutely no reason for this. The show is named Talbot street art fair.

In it's present form it should more correctly be named Talbot St and assorted side streets art fair. At least one would have a clue.

Read a review where the artist is going to seek compensation for false show advertising. We should all do the same until shows shapes up with the artists in mind.

Good Things about this Art Fair:
One of the "granddaddies" of street fairs, it has always had a great crowd. It's a little mysterious as to why some artists have great shows, and others don't always fair as well, but my suggestion would be to give it a try if you're within a few hours drive.

A show run by dedicated artists and volunteers with a strong neighborhood association has the mechanics down and things seem to run smoothly year after year. The focus is on selling art and craft. No music stages or commercial booths and the committee keeps a pretty good eye out for buy/sell. Invitations are extended to artists who have exhibited good quality of work consistently.

Bad Things about this Art Fair:
Parking can sometimes be a problem if there is construction at Herron school.

Booth Fee vs. Your Sales Ratio: Good
Estimated Attendance: 10,001-50,000 people

Good Things about this Art Fair: Well run, good pre-show info, big crowds, good quality art,

Bad Things about this Art Fair: Tight booth spaces in very narrow city street, uneven (booth is half in street, half up on sidewalk) crowded setup and teardown. Free coffee and glazed donuts both mornings...not very useful to a non-coffee drinker who doesn't eat sugar.

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show: Bring plenty of shims

Additional Commentary on this Show (or about this form):My sales were the best in the 3 years I've done the show, and I heard other artists remark about their good sales. There seemed to be a buying energy in the crowd that I haven't seen in a long time.

Good Things about this Art Fair: Very well run, good pre-show info, great crowds, quality and variety of art very good

Bad Things about this Art Fair: Booth spaces half in street, half up on the sidewalk, need lots of shims to set up level, narrow streets make for congested setup and teardown

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show: They had free WI-FI available at the show site.

Additional Commentary on this Show (or about this form): My sales were a little below last year's. Not a lot of the masses of people were carrying packages on Saturday, Sunday was better but the precentage of actual buyers seemed low.

Good Things about this Art Fair:
Excellent mix of professional artists. It's a well run show.

Bad Things about this Art Fair:
Very crowded and hard to get in to unload and set up. Booth configuration is a challenge. HOT time of year.

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
Watch the website for your booth assignment. You won't get a letter or email about it.

Additional Commentary on this Show:
I'll definitely be back. I like this one the best of all the large Indiana shows. Admission is free, so there are a lot of shoppers. The other "biggies" charge a hefty gate fee.

Good Things about this Art Fair:
Well organized, lots of traffic, great quality of artists, nice balance of media.

Bad Things about this Art Fair:
Sales were off according to previously exhibiting artists I spoke to. People buying smaller items or none at all.

Advice to Other Artists Considering this Show:
Show's reputation makes it worth trying. Maybe next year will see better sales.

Additional Commentary on this Show:
It's not that artists didn't make a profit here, just that the profits were smaller than usual, and smaller than one would think a crowd of that size should produce.
